Resolving to Have Good Oral Health
|
Even though we are well into the New Year, it is never too late to revisit our resolutions. Have you made any changes yet? If you have, did any of them include habits that will benefit your dental health? Your physical health and your self-confidence are reliant on your oral health, which makes focusing on your oral health the perfect way to ensure healthy habits throughout the year.
Brush Twice a Day Now is the perfect time to take inventory of how often you brush your teeth. Oftentimes, we get so caught up in routine that we do not pay attention to what we are or are not doing. Are you brushing your teeth morning and night? If so, is it for at least 2 minutes at a time? Sometimes we get so rushed with our lives that we tend to hurry little habits up without even realizing it. The next time you brush, set an egg timer or even the timer on your Smartphone and see just how long you are brushing. Chances are it is for less time than you think.
Floss Once a Day Flossing is just as important as brushing. Stop and think about the last time you purchased dental floss. Can't remember? It is time to start again. Grab that floss and make time, even if it is a minute or two every night, to get the extra plaque and bacteria out from in between your teeth. If you neglect to do this, you put your oral health at much greater risk for gingivitis and subsequent periodontal disease, both of which can affect your oral health, smile and even your physical health.
Start today on a new dental health routine and get your dental health back in order this year!
