Tooth Extractions
|
Tooth Extractions are not a procedure that we take lightly. It is best to keep the natural tooth structure when possible. We remove teeth through extractions when they have become damaged beyond repair from its socket in the jawbone. Besides damaged teeth, we perform extractions to remove wisdom teeth that may be impacted or create future problems of decay due to their positioning.
When We Consider Extracting Teeth• |
When the tooth is severely decayed beyond repair
|
• |
Impacted wisdom teeth or a poorly positioned tooth
|
• |
When the tooth is fractured and is impossible or impractical to repair
|
• |
When the evidence of Periodontal disease is leading to bone loss
|
• |
For poorly functional teeth that we recommend replacing with a bridge, denture, or dental implant
|
Tooth Extraction Post-Operative InstructionsFollowing tooth extraction you may experience bleeding, oozing, soreness, or moderate to severe pain. Most of these symptoms will lighten over the couple of days following. If symptoms seem beyond normal severity, please seek medical intervention.
• |
Post Extraction Dental Care
Following your dental extraction, it is important to not disturb the site. Eating a soft diet and avoiding vigorous rinsing is recommended for the first 24 hours post extraction.
|
• |
After 24 hours Care
Rinsing with a strong warm salt water for 1 minute a couple of times daily for 3-4 days will reduce the number of bacteria in your mouth and will promote better healing. |
